Witnesses killed my friend today.
by WasOnceBlind intoday has been a horrible day.
what began as a day of joy finding out that one of my lifelong friends had her baby, turned into a nightmare when her brother called me to let me know she had passed away after birth.
i was in shock and didn't ask how.

This is so sad and tragic. And entirely pointless and avoidable. I abhor the self-righteous and self-aggrandizing Dictators of Doctrine who coerce their minions into dying rather than questioning their ever-changing interpretations of scattered passages from a Bronze Age book of Jewish fairy tales. -

"It's a miracle! The big J-dog caused that sweet little sister to stomp on his foot to draw attention to the malignant tumor silently growing there so it could be removed in time. Surely, this is just another example of the life-saving work of his people in this time of the end. Aren't we all moved to exert ourselves even more in praising his holy name?" clap-clap-clap-clap-clap-clap-clap... ad nauseum
Seriously, Mr. Hermit, thank you so much for posting your story. Really looking forward to reading the rest. You have quite a gift for story-telling.

wt 8/15/03: Easing Nature - Is it for Christians?
by Scully ineasing nature is it for christians?
easing nature the very phrase itself brings to mind the odious product of this activity.
yet, many people have the understanding that this natural bodily function is a practice in which true christians may engage.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your taking time to make information like this available. There's no telling how much good you're doing. Documentation is the antidote to deniability.
I can almost hear the Faithless Indiscreet Slavebuggers gnashing their teeth right now.

Hot dang! This is the best thing I've heard in a LONG time! Man, I hope more and more JW's take a nice long look around like these ladies did and realize something is definitely "rotten in Denmark."
You gotta love little ol' ladies like your mom's friends! I'm so glad they're changing their wills to leave money to blood relatives instead of the money-grubbing Borg.
Thanks for posting this. You made my day!

Someones trying to make $$ recording JW meetings

Hi, Beth Sarim. I was referring to the YouTube site that was selling audio recordings of the meetings. Once the congregation where the recordings are being made is identified, the Society could have the local elders order the person involved to stop doing so. They'd probably be threatened with being disfellowshipped if they didn't comply.
I don't think anyone will be able to shut down jehovahs-witness.com anytime soon. Simon works hard to keep stuff off here that would give anyone grounds to even try. He provides a valuable service by keeping this site up and running. It's a wonderful resource for anybody who's been affected by the Watchtower, one way or another. I hope it's around for a very long time.

I have a feeling this site will be shut down very soon. The Society will find out who is behind it and have the local elders order him (or her) to stop. If they refuse, they could be disfellowshipped for "causing divisions," or some other "brazen" conduct like disregarding Theocratic Order or some such nonsense.
They only charge 99ยข a month, which is a fair enough price. But personally, you couldn't pay me $99 month to listen to that crap.
Sheesh! Just the idea of listening to the meetings gives me the creeps and makes me feel like I need a shower.

Local Needs part given after Ministerial Servant left the organization

some crazy cult language in this talk.. some highlights:.

under the radar
This talk might actually backfire and wake up some who didn't want to admit to themselves that the Society truly is a mind-control cult. Some of this stuff could have been taken directly from 1984.
One glaring fault was that this earnest appeal to ignore "the man behind the curtain" didn't even try to address any of the issues he said were causing problems in Houston. Serious, legitimate issues that a deserve a better response than "Never mind. Don't worry about it. Just obey and don't question anything."
The more I hear about this kind of crap, the more I hate the organization. In some ways, it's worse than the Mafia. True, there's no way to gracefully and honorably leave either. But at least the Mafia doesn't usually go after your family.
The Society's treatment of "apostates" and those either DA or DF or even sometimes simply faded has a lot in common with the Soviet purges of the 30's, 40's, and 50's. Of course, the Society doesn't actually murder their victims, but a Watchtower article from the late 50's implied that they would if they could get away with it. More and more, JW's are pushed to treat such ones, even close family members, as if they were already dead.
Emotional blackmail and social coercion are polite ways to term it, but that doesn't begin to describe the terrible harm it does to all concerned. Obedient JW's are often forced to suppress their natural feelings and affections and act in a way completely contrary to the way they would otherwise. It can require a complete personality change, a kind of Jekyll and Hyde effect. The ones shunned are treated as outcasts, worthless and despised. Warm and loving families can and sometimes do disintegrate into warring camps. I wonder how many lives have been totally ruined by this callous and arrogant policy masquerading as faithfulness to God.
